May 1st will be celebrated with a big Crashendo

The world’s largest drumset “THE BIG BOOM” will be the highlight of this year’s 1st of May festivities in Vienna’s Prater. The gigantic drumkit which measures 6.50m high and 8.00m wide (21x26 ft) was originally set up with all its parts – bass drum, snare, toms and cymbals.

The estimated 300’000 visitors on this day will certainly be fascinated and impressed when they see this mammoth drum kit.

4 Drummers Needed

Due to the massive specs of the drumkit, four drummers will team up to play it which makes this project rather difficult. The challenge will be especially difficult because each player has to synchronize their rhythmic patterns with one another while jumping around in 6m height.

But, who are the Performers?

After playing many events for Red Bull and the Alpine Ski Worldcup, the four drummers of Drumarctic used the Austrian TV-Talent-Show “Die Grosse Chance” to become a sought-after show act throughout Europe.

The World-Premiere

The world-premiere starts at 1pm on the 1st of May at the Rondeau, in the middle of Vienna’s Prater. Two different performances (one per hour), will continue throughout the afternoon and evening rocking the Prater and getting everybody to dance. The grand-finale will be a big firework in rhythm with the drum show at 10pm.

Whether young or old, musician or none-musician – “The World’s Largest Drumset” must be seen!

At this year's musikmesse in Frankfurt you could again experience brand new products made by GEWA. But not only our booth in hall 3.0 E14 had a lot to offer.

Every day the "FAB 8" rocked and played on the AGORA stage. „The legendary Jam-of-the Year“ Band was made up of Bobby Kimball (TOTO), Tommy Denander (guitarist, f.ex. Michael Jackson), Bruce Gaitsch (guitarist, f.ex. Richard Marx), Curt Bisquera (drummer, f.ex. Tina Turner), Jimmy Kresic (RMC) and Jekko S.

The new GEWA digital piano took centre stage. Both the 6-times Grammy winner Bobby Kimball and the keyboarder Jimmy Kresic impressed the audience with legendary songs like "Africa" or "Hold the line".

Just in time for Frankfurt Music Fair 2012 GEWA comes up with some news in Roy Benson woodwind instrument assortment. Roy Benson wind instruments are continuously revised and refined. Now the team brought out innovative flutes as well as 2 new clarinets.

The Polish boutique manufacturer Laboga presents its most recent offspring: The Beast 30 Plus! The two-channel tube amp – equipped with four EL84 and two 12AX7 tubes – has an output power of 30 watt. Here the „Plus“ compared to the little brother Laboga Beast becomes noticeable. If necessary the power can be reduced to 15 watt per switch. Thus, the Laboga Beast 30 Plus has plenty resources for gigs on bigger stages, but can also show its power in small settings. The clean-channel provides a voluminous, three-dimensional and pearly clean-sound. By using the integrated Gain-Boost you will also achieve dynamic crunch sounds. The second channel covers the spectrum of Hard'n'Heavy riffs to lead sounds full of sustain. The Gain-Boost for the clean-channel and switching between channels can be carried out by using the optional pedal. In addition, a serial FX-loop is available.

Thanks to the integrated Recording-Out it is no longer necessary to put a microphone in front of the amp when on stage or in the studio. On top, the head phone exit prevents stress with the neigbours. By using the Powersoak, the power amp is not simply switched off, but merely quieted down at the speaker exit. Nevertheless, there will be no sound loss of the power amp signal.

The Laboga Beast 30+ is available as Top or Combo equipped with a Celestion Seventy 80 12 inch speaker.

VGS Guitars sets out to produce a T-style model - the mother of all solid body E-guitars. As can be expected of VGS the VGS SkyCruiser VTC-100 is not only a simple replica. That these are instruments by professionals for professionals becomes obvious when looking at the bare facts: Body made of American Alder, two Seymour Duncan SSL3 single coils, one Seymour Duncan TB-4 bridge humbucker and the revolutionary Evertune bridge! Money-saving bass players can now also enjoy a VGS Cobra bass. The 4-string of the Select Series shows up in elegant satin black. Underneath is a solid Nato body. Whoever said that everything is said and done when it comes to picks sure did not count on the American pick manufacturer Clayton. Numerous innovative products prove that the end of the rope has not been not reached yet.

An excellent example are the Nutone Picks made of polymerised protein – a perfect substitute for the original tortoise shell of the Hawksbill turtle. The picks are especially apt for playing acoustic guitar and provide punchy basses and clear treble tones. The natural „lubrication“ of the material allows for fast and elaborate playing.

We would like to thank you and the numerous national and international visitors that came to see us at the new GEWA booth and at our Business Center during Musikmesse 2011 in Frankfurt.

With the slogan „85 years GEWA; now also DIGITAL!“, this year, we presented for the first time the new series of GEWA digital pianos. Launching the three models 140, 160 and 180, that reconcile up-to-date technology with German engineering, is a further cornerstone in our company history.

VGS presented cutting-edge Evertune bridge-systems on several instruments and in different price ranges - innovation for everybody. A guitar, that stays and sounds perfectly in tune is like a dream but possible, thanks to today's technology. The concept found lots of supporters at the booth.

Also, in the range of wind instruments a number of new products were tested with great enthusiasm, most notably of ROY BENSON. Introducing a brand new soprano saxophone, a baritone saxophone, a bass trombone as well as a children's trombone, the ROY BENSON team adds creative new angles that enable the player to realise his/her musical visions.

DrumCraft impressed visitors by presenting the new electronic drum set for the very first time. Furthermore, in the GEWA case range, the use of top-quality materials like carbon and aramid found new admirers of our cases.
