JULIAN BERANN

Born and raised in Vienna, 1992. Julian has been playing drums since he was three years old and since then his life has revolved around music.

As the son of drummer Angela Berann, the first female drummer in Austria, he grew up in a musical household.

At the age of 16, at the beginning of his career, he started as a percussionist at the Burgtheater Wien.

At the same time, Julian began his "Jazz and Popular Music" studies. During and after his studies he was busy as a session drummer in various recording sessions and live shows.

This was followed by the founding of the "Phatjam Vienna" jam session together with Richard Seniow and Adil Baktir, which has become an important cultural hotspot in Vienna.

After a long trip to Los Angeles to find new musical ideas and inspiration for his drumming, Julian's first tours across Europe began as a drummer for singer James Hersey.

In the years to come, tours and recording sessions in Canada, USA, South Africa and Europe followed.

Julian has worked world-wide on the stage or in the studio with different artists, including:

| Alice Phoebe Lou | James Hersey | Daniel Mesquita | Belle Fin| Jon Sass | Narou | LIJON | Baketown Collective |

Noah Georgeson | Wolfgang Puschnig | Soia | Royce Lovett | Ola Egbowon | Gazelle & the Bear and many more…

James Hersey about Julian:

"Julian is the ideal drummer for my sound. His unique technique and charisma make him an unforgettable performer on stage. His carefully crafted tone has as much to do with his intuitive phrasing as he does with his savvy choice of gear "
